CABES
eCampus university aims to ensure all its students equal opportunities of access to the learning pathway, in accordance with the current legislation. For this purpose, a University Committee for Students with Special Educational Needs (CABES) has been set up to assess their requests related to examination procedures and access to environments and services provided by the exam centres.
ASSISTANCE AND MONITORING DESK
Following the presentation of the documentation, the student will be contacted by the CABES
disciplinary tutor
for an initial cognitive interview with the aim of accepting and understanding his or her needs, and
arranging
useful interventions to further his or her educational pathway. An individualised support plan will
then be
agreed upon, monitored over time and possibly updated during the course of studies.
CUSTOMIZED TESTS
In accordance with the certificate or the attestation provided, students with Disabilities, Learning
Diseases or
Special Educational Needs will have access to customized tests determined as follows:
- Material support provided by a personal tutor for the implementation of the presential exam. Students with Disabilities, Learning Diseases or Special Educational Needs, following a specific request, will have the possibility to be supported by a personal tutor.
- Additional time for testing purposes. Students with Disabilities, Learning Diseases or Special Educational Needs, following a specific request, will be given additional time to complete the final exams, amounting to at least 30% more than the time normally allowed for the implementation of the exam.
- Subdivision of the syllabus of an examination into several part-tests, to be agreed upon with the course lecturer;
- Choice of the examination mode, written or oral, according to each student's learning features;
- Use of independently prepared concept maps;
- Use of a non-scientific calculator;
- Use of forms shared and approved by the teacher.
GUIDANCE AT THE EXAM CENTRE
Students with Disabilities, Learning Diseases or Special Educational Needs, following a specific
request, will
have the possibility to receive guidance in the premises of the exam centre.
VIDEO-TUTORIALS, MODELS AND EXAMPLES FOR THE AUTONOMOUS CREATION OF THE CONCEPT
MAP
Students with Disabilities, Learning Diseases or Special Educational Needs may make use of the
contents of a
specific section in their reserved area of the official platform of the University.
EDUCATIONAL MEETINGS AND CONSULTANCY REGARDING THE DESIGN OF CONCEPTUAL MAPS
Among the compensative tools suggested by the 2014 Guidelines of the National Conference of
University Delegates
on Disability (CNUDD) are conceptual maps. Students with disabilities, DSA or BES who have the
opportunity to
make use of the concept maps during the oral and/or written examination can attend the periodically
offered
training group meetings and any specific advice on structuring the maps to support examination and
study.
BOOKS AND STUDY MATERIAL IN ACCESSIBLE FORMAT
Students with Disabilities, Learning Diseases or Special Educational Needs, following a specific
request, will
receive support in book procurement and study materials in accessible format.
