Calculation of the H-INDEX in Scopus


i. Access the database SciScopus;
ii. Select the "Author Search" tab of the of the search form, enter the surname and - for common surnames - also one or more initials of the first name and choose "Search": you will now generate a list with different variations of the surname searched and different combinations of an author with the related institutions and subject areas. Then choose all relevant variants and click on "Show documents":

Attenzione: it is unadvisable to click on "View citation overview" in this screen, as the result may be incorrect.
iii. on the result list select "Select all" then click on "View citation overview":

Now you will see a list of the cited documents ordered by year of publication (the order may be changed so as to re-order the documents by quotation). The h-index is shown on the top right; click on the button "h-graph" a graph of the citations received by each document is shown.

ATTENTION: The h-index calculated in Scopus starts from 1996, year from which the data are most complete in the database.
To limit the h-index to a specific time range, change the years in the drop-down boxes above the list of publications and click on "Update overview".
