UNIVERSITY

The present call is intended to award 43 scholarships that have been promoted by the Mama Sofia Foundation, in memory of Ambassador Luca Attanasio, in partnership with eCampus University.

 

Art. 1) Aim and Subject Matter
  1. The project organised by Mama Sofia in memory of the Italian Ambassador Luca Attanasio, is an idea of its founder and president, Zakia Seddiki Attanasio. Its mission is to promote higher education programmes as well as to promote the knowledge of the Italian language.
     
  2. As a means of supporting the efforts of Mama Sofia, eCampus Telematic University has announced that it will award  43 scholarships to the same number of students coming from countries specified in art. 2 of the present call for application.
     
  3. The scholarships enable students to attend eCampus Telematic University's undergraduate or postgraduate degree courses on-line. The 62 degree programmes the winners can choose from are detailed in Annex A of this call.
     
Art. 2) Target countries and scholarship allocation

The available scholarships are open to citizens of the following countries who reside there on a permanent basis:

  • Afghanistan
  • Albania
  • Algeria
  • Ethiopia
  • Libya
  • Morocco
  • Niger
  • Nigeria
  • Republic of the Congo
  • Democratic Republic of the Congo
  • Somalia
  • Tunisia
     
Art. 3)  Eligibility 

Applicants must meet the following requirements on the call deadline  (April 5th, 2023, at 23:59 Italian time):

  1. Passport or equivalent valid identification document.
     
  2. Final secondary school qualification, which states that the candidate has completed at least 12 years of schooling and which grants the right to enrol in a degree programme in the candidate's home country.
     
  3. Between 18 and 35 years of age.
     
Art. 4) Scholarship Duration and Organisation
  1.  The scholarships awarded under this call for applications have a term commensurate with the legal duration of the chosen degree programme, which will begin with the 2023-2024 academic year.
     
  2. In order for the scholarship to be extended to academic years subsequent to 2023-2024, students are required to have accrued a minimum number of 42 University Education Credits (ECTS) in the previous academic year. The scholarship cannot be continued if the student presents a transfer request and/or withdraws from the programme. Should candidates fail to meet the eligibility requirements specified in this article, the grant will be revoked.
     
  3. The grant covers the following costs: registration fees, tuition fees, office fees, and regional education tax.
     
  4. Students that do not have a B2 certificate in Italian will also be entitled to attend a preparatory course for the B2 Italian exam in accordance with the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference).
     
  5. Upon completing the course, students will sit an B2 language certification exam in Italy, at one of centres identified by eCampus University.  The students' travel expenses will be covered by contributions collected by the Mama Sofia Foundation. The university will not cover any transfer, accommodation, or meal costs. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in compliance with current regulations, will facilitate the issuance of the visas that are required to take language examinations in Italy.
     
Art. 5) Application procedure and deadline

  1. To apply this call for applications, you must fill in the appropriate form available on the website by April 05, 2023. Any application received after this deadline will not be accepted.
     
  2. Valid application are those submitted by candidates who meet the requirements, who complete the application form in all parts, and who attach the following documents:
     

    • copy of a valid form of identification
       
    • Secondary education diploma certificate. This is to be supplemented by a declaration by the authorised Italian diplomatic-consular representation which certifies its conformity, or by a statement of comparability issued by CIMEA
       
    • curriculum vitae
       
    • B2 certificate in Italian, or a secondary school diploma completed at an Italian state school abroad or at an Italian curriculum department of a foreign school[1] (note that this document is not compulsory as those students not holding it are required to attend a course that prepares them to sit the B2 level exam as set out in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).

       
    • Please attach any relevant documents and send them with the application. Applications missing these documents, or which fail to meet the submission criteria and deadline will not be considered.

  3. Any scholarships awarded to students who have entered false information will be revoked.

 

Art. 6) Scholarships Provision and Allocation Process
  1. Candidate Selection
    Applications will be scrutinised by Italian Diplomatic Officers with territorial competence.
     
  2. Allocation process
    Scholarship allocation will be conducted upon careful scrutiny of the submitted applications. In this respect, candidates will be assessed on their eligibility and on any distinctive elements in their curriculum vitae.
     
  3. Publication of the lists of winners and any reserves
    The lists of winners and any reserves will be published on the following website: XXX. These lists are irrevocable. If a candidate's name is not included in the lists, this implies that the scholarship has not been awarded to them.
     
  4. Enrolling on a degree programme
    The scholarship holder, must complete their enrolment in one of the degree courses listed in Appendix A of this call for applications within 30 days following the announcement of the ranking of merit
Art. 7) Amendments and additions
  1. The issuer of the call has the right to amend or supplement its contents.

 

Art. 8) Processing of personal data
  1. The processing of the candidates' personal information will be carried out in full compliance with the regulations in force.
     
  2. Any denial of consent to processing the data will make the candidate ineligible for the present call.
