eCampus Online University was founded with the aim of offering the young people who access the university, professionals, managers, and all economic and cultural operators educational paths that meet their specific needs to acquire the necessary skills requested by the job market and that are consistent with their career choices and cultural interests. For this purpose, our educational offering is characterised by several basic specifications that are implemented in practice through our academic structure.

Research
More than anything eCampus University is supported by research. It establishes internal or external research centres whose purpose is basic research but also applied research to develop the potential of various disciplines in terms of applicability in traditional contexts as well as in the new contexts that are emerging today.

  1. The Learning Research Centre is of primary importance. It is the foundation on which eCampus University’s entire educational offering rests in terms of innovative didactics and methodologies.

  2. Since it is an institution devoted to learning, eCampus University makes learning an the object of a systematic research. Through this total reversibility of the institutional task, methodologies are continuously updated, teaching and learning processes systematically monitored and new educational demands responded to with great flexibility.

  3. In addition, eCampus University promotes research in all the disciplines with the goal of providing a meaningful and effective response to the demands from businesses, schools, government and social services.

  4. Moreover, the educational offered by eCampus University emphasizes also the role of research in the teaching system by proposing learning paths that engage the student not so much in the acquisition and accumulation of knowledge but, most of all, in suitably guided action-research tasks aimed to develop a professional mentality that focuses on the search for solutions and is not limited to the execution of procedures. 

  5. eCampus University analyses new professional needs and designs new professional profiles based on the specifications provided by manufacturers, the service sector, local government, schools, non-profits and public and private institutions.

 

Innovation
eCampus Online University serves as an agent of change for its students and the territory in which it operates. If, as was said before, the challenge lies in governing change, in addition to promoting a culture of change, eCampus University responds to the transformations that are going on with a number of innovative solutions.

  1. To the student, especially if a working student, it offers an effective, customised, easy-to-access third-generation eLearning system by creating a learning environment able not only to transmit knowledge at a distance but that uses new technologies to offer new teaching and learning models, objective evaluation and self-assessment models and effective methods for the interaction between theory and practice. It is a system that does not abolish personal contact and in which the student does not run the risk of feeling lost. 

  2. To working professionals it offers customised paths for updating or reinventing their professional profiles by developing new disciplinary content. It presents itself as a technological educational system using new technologies according to rigorously didactic criteria.

Territoriality
Nowadays, every service structure must have a territorial configuration: this is to say that, at the centre of its system, the 'user' must be placed (client or student), considered as a person, i.e., as a system of personal, cultural, economic and environmental relations of which it feels itself to be an integral part and from which it derives interests, requirements, needs and lifestyles.
The change facing service structures – yesterday, oriented to themselves in the past are today oriented to the person and the context he/she belongs to (the territory) – requiring new organisational models.
The organisational model of eCampus University has the advantage of being created with this orientation from the beginning: equipped with a central management structure, thanks to an advanced technological system, it is able to track the student's every activity, wherever he/she is located, responding to his/her educational and organisational questions, monitoring his/her contributions to the educational process, and controlling and orienting his/her learning.

Methodologies
From a methodological point of view, eCampus University has a system of didactic and management techniques and methodologies, with the purpose of optimising teaching and learning processes and relieving students and even instructors from bureaucratic and other duties unrelated to teaching.

More specifically:

  1. the University's didactic planning is governed by the Permanent Didactic Board;

  2. the same Board coordinates and controls the editorial groups that form the eLearning Services Centre and are responsible for creating the didactic products to be distributed on the network;

  3. in addition to traditional admission tests, the access to courses by students requires a series of orienting actions – from a self-assessment of skills to the creation of a professional project and the customisation of the study plan – that will be supplemented along the way, in order to give the student constant control of what he does and its pertinence to his interests and consistency with his abilities;

  4. distance-learning activities can be conducted synchronously or asynchronously, individually or by participating in virtual classes; 

  5. the multimedia teaching-learning resources ensure maximum interactivity, sustained by the constant contributions of the tutors, who take responsibility for single students as well as virtual classes;

  6. in addition to examinations taken in the presence, the evaluation of the students' performance uses tests that are automated in different and various ways;

  7. in addition to distance-learning activities, eCampus University offers students opportunities to participate in seminars, theme-based study sessions, company internships and apprenticeships, and cultural exchanges with other countries, providing them easily-accessible and reasonably-priced logistical bases.

The didactic model of eCampus University adopts the most recent findings of research on learning, using the newest technologies to facilitate their application. Operationally, the model facilitates access to its courses by middle-upper school students, professionals and economic and cultural operators by making available residential structures, easy to use telecommunications tools, teaching teams capable of supporting individual or group learning, and an advanced tutoring system with which each student, whether he chooses to be full-time or part-time, is followed personally and gives the students the choice of alternating between periods of study and work and arranging the duration of educational paths, creating a commitment structure that is functional to his real possibilities of applying.
