The IBM Blade System X hardware, the Storage Area Network, TS3100 36 library and the HP DL380 G4 server are installed in the Fastweb server farm in Milan.

The infrastructure is connected via PIX to VPN and centralised Internet Services (available band: VPN 20 Mb/sec – Internet 20 Mb/sec).

An additional physical HP server integrated into the IT infrastructure is located in the electrical-heat controlled rooms of Cerbara (PG) and connected to the data network infrastructure via VPN 8 Mb + backup 2 Mb in HSRP.

4. Data backup/restore - Continuity of service

The current hardware solution provides for data storage on SAN and backup on TS3100 36 library using Tivoli Storage Manager software from IBM installed on an HP DL380 G4 physical server.

5. Data network infrastructure

The network infrastructure currently used is based on MPLS (Multi Protocol Label Switching) any-to-any technology that allows connection via VPN in conformity with the security requirements necessary for the system's critical applications. The network itself provides centralised Internet access.
